Themetal parts such as the nib and clip all have a colorless rhodium finish which allows the unique color of the pen body to shine through.Skilled craftsmen then create a unique smooth texture on the barrel and cap by polishing the lacquer until no brush marks remain. The Izumo Iro Urushi combines traditional techniques with a sleek, modern feel.

Budou Nezuwas a popular color from the mid-Edo to the early Showa period, where it became known as “aristocratic gray” for itselegant hue. The color was often used for kimonos in ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
